(mr) Clare Henry Day

I was 18 and finishing a one year enlistment in the Infantry @ Ft Benjamin Harrison, near Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a special enlistment program for members in the military to attend a Corps Area West Point Preparatory School. My recollection of the Churchill speech was either a news broadcast or a class discussion. I reenlisted on 1 July 1940 in the Army Air corps, subsequently the Air Force. During the war years Churchill's speeches and writings were recognized as gems even then. I finally completed my military service in late 1945 after 6-1/2 years and returned to finish my education in Architecture at the University of Cincinnati.
